SUMMARY OF POSITION

Kinsley’s Structural Steel Fabrication and Erection Division is looking for a talented Structural Connection Design Engineer to assist our team with various structural engineering needs.

Kinsley’s Steel Fabrication and Erection Division is an industry leader in steel construction and specializes in structural steel design, miscellaneous metal design, engineering, detailing, fabrication, erection, and retrofit of existing members.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural design and analysis calculations to be used in designing steel connections using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
  • Provide plans, designs, and layouts as well as structural project specifications as needed
  • Provide engineering solutions to address various field fixes as they may arise throughout the fabrication and installation of the steel members
  • Assist the estimating department on connection design solutions to aid in the process of estimating new projects
  • Review submittal and For Construction drawings, as requested, to ensure detailing conforms to the connection design

Education & Experience:

  • BS in engineering from an accredited university required
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Working knowledge of the following codes and standards:
    • American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC)
    • International Building & Residential Code (IBC & IRC)
    • Special Design Provision for Wind and Seismic (SDPWS)
    • Minimum Design Loads for Buildings (ASCE/SEI 7)
  • 3+ years in structural design and engineering as it relates steel construction
  • Experience using and working with Tekla, AutoCAD, Revit, and Sketchup.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc)
  • Capable presenting to large groups and engaging with multiple dispersed departments
  • Ability to effectively function in a team environment
Requirements
