Last month, the Sussex Conservation District presented our Delaware Site team with two Conservation Stewardship Awards. This award program recognizes organizations that have exceeded Delaware Sediment and Stormwater Regulations to prepare, protect and preserve sensitive natural resources in Sussex County, Delaware.

We received the Green Conservation Award for the Cannon Road/Inland Bays Road Drainage Improvements project. Completing this summer, we are transforming a 400-acre parcel of land to improve the quality of groundwater and stormwater, and overall drainage of the Inland Bays Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility.

In addition, we received the Residential Site Contractor Award for the Atlantic East project. We completed the site and utility work for this 28-acre residential subdivision last June. Adjacent to Rehoboth Bay, more than 30% of the subdivision contains wetlands and borders federal-regulated, non-tidal wetlands, and state-regulated, tidal wetlands – all part of the Inland Bays watershed.
