Three Kinsley projects were recognized at the 2017 Commonwealth Awards presented by 10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania on Dec. 7 in York, PA. The Commonwealth Awards is 10,000 Friends’ signature program recognizing great development projects and initiatives – and the people and organizations that make them happen.  It is the only statewide smart growth award program in Pennsylvania and reflects 10,000 Friends’ commitment to improving the quality of life for all Pennsylvanians.

Think Loud Development received the Platinum Commonwealth Award for the adaptive reuse of the factory at 210 York Street into a state-of-the-art recording studio and commercial space. Kinsley provided construction management services for the renovation of the 50,000-sq-ft former press building, which is now home to Think Loud’s headquarters, a recording studio, rehearsal and support areas, a memorabilia bar, several smaller tenant spaces, and a rooftop entertainment deck.

Warehaus at NW Triangle (Company Headquarters) received a Commonwealth Award for its projects and initiatives that have made outstanding contributions to the City of York. Kinsley converted this unique 40,000-sq-ft former warehouse building into a contemporary office space for the award-winning, LEED-Platinum headquarters for Warehaus. Sustainability was a very important aspect of project planning, design, and construction.  Sustainable features include highly-efficient building systems, composting toilets, automatic light and shade controls, sustainable materials, and more. Learn more about this entire project.

Also receiving a Commonwealth Award for their community initiatives was the York College Center for Community Engagement. Kinsley recently renovated the 20,225-sq-ft historic downtown York building,  formerly the Lafayette Club. Kinsley’s work included near total replacement of the heating, air-conditioning and plumbing systems and the installation of an entirely new fire protection system throughout all areas of the structure. The building’s lower level was also completely renovated to install a commercial kitchen that provides food service educational opportunities for York College.

We are proud to have all three of these projects delivered by Kinsley Construction.
