Project Scope
Kinsley Construction provided comprehensive preconstruction and construction services for a design-build renovation and expansion of Pappus House, a nonprofit organization providing free end-of-life care in York County. Originally operating out of a three-bedroom facility, Pappus House quickly outgrew its space and partnered with our team to transform a 6,500-square-foot former SPCA building into a larger, home-like environment. Our scope of work included:
Demolishing the existing west and east wings of the building
Performing complete site grading and preparation
Self-performing footers and concrete work
Installing wood framing, roof trusses, shingles and windows
Completing structural steel work for the rear stairway
Installing building systems, including a geothermal heat pump
Redesigning sprinkler and waterline placement to prevent freezing risks
Remediating a sinkhole discovered during geothermal installation using flowable fill
Project features include:
Eight private resident rooms, each with patio access and privacy fencing
A reflection room for quiet comfort and support
Outdoor walking paths and gardens
A staff breakroom
Second-floor administrative offices
A private bedroom for visiting family members
