Project Info
In 1863, the Spangler property was converted into a Civil War field hospital for the Union Army. Kinsley provided preconstruction and construction management services to restore the barn and farmhouse at the George Spangler historic site.
The rehabilitation project included four separate projects:
- Renovations to the original summer kitchen
- Restoration of the bank barn including substantial repairs to the structural timber framing, masonry preservation, new barn siding and new cedar shake roofing
- Restoration of the smokehouse to its condition at the time of the Civil War
- Renovations to the 4,300-sq-ft, two-story farmhouse converting the home’s interior into office and classroom space, as well as preserving the historic exterior
