Penn State West 2 Engineering Building

Project Info

Kinsley is fabricating and erecting 1,260 tons of structural steel for a four-story plus basement, 105,000-square-foot engineering research and teaching facility. This is our first project that includes installing Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) decking.

Steel detailing began in October and fabrication starts in December. Main structure steel erection is scheduled to start in April and complete by end of June 2021. The project’s final completion is slated for August 2022.

The new building, which has a goal of obtaining LEED Gold certification, will be used as flexible classrooms, multi-use design studios, “cornerstone to capstone” maker spaces, a high-bay research lab, faculty offices and research cores to benefit all College of Engineering disciplines.
