PennDOT I-83 Exit 4 DDI

Project Info

In an effort to relieve congestion and improve safety at the I-83 corridor in Shrewsbury, Kinsley was selected to build a diverging diamond interchange, or double crossover. Our scope of work includes:

  • Replacing the existing, three-span I-83 bridge over SR 851 with a two-span bridge
  • Lengthening and reconfiguring the ramps leading onto and off of I-83
  • Replacing the culvert that carries Deer Creek beneath the interchange
  • New traffic signals at the interchange
  • Pile-driving 4,800 linear feet of foundation bearing piles for bridge foundations
  • Numerous stream relocations
  • Improving the stormwater management system, including installation of 67 storm inlets, 3,200 linear feet of storm sewer systems, three stormwater facilities and 1,300 linear feet of curbing
