Towards the Finish Line
Since its commencement in June 2023, the Greenfield North development project in Lancaster County is making significant progress. Working alongside the High Companies, Kinsley Construction played an integral role in bringing this project to life.
Cultivating Connections
Our connection to the High Companies began in 2022 during our collaboration on the Walnut Street Extension Project. The $22 million project, linking Route 30 to Greenfield, laid the foundation for our ongoing partnership. Following this success, the High Companies approached Kinsley Construction and presented us with an even greater challenge: Greenfield North. Expanding our work and becoming a part of communities across the region, particularly within the Lancaster area, has always been a goal of ours. The Greenfield North project offered an ideal opportunity to make significant strides toward this goal.
An Inside Perspective
The Greenfield North project comprises three lots: two for commercial warehouses and one for residential apartments/townhomes. Lot 1 has undergone extensive work, including stormwater management and the installation of water line and sanitary sewer. Pending tasks focus on completing earthwork and finalizing stormwater systems. Similarly, significant activity is underway at Lots 4 and 5. Curbs and paving on Lot 5 are complete, with further work scheduled for this summer. Lot 4 continues with additional paving work and stormwater management, including underground detention basins.
When the Going gets Tough, the Tough get Going
Navigating the complexities of a project of this scale hasn’t been without its challenges. From design changes to unforeseen hurdles, our crew worked tirelessly to tackle every obstacle. One notable challenge is our adaptation to unsuitable soils, marked by saturation and debris. To rectify this issue, we undertook an extensive excavation process, removing over 10,000 cubic yards of material. To replace the material that was removed, we imported aggregate and carefully tested the rest of the land to ensure it met environmental standards and posed no contamination risks.
Another obstacle arose from the city water main’s inability to provide adequate water pressure for the newly constructed buildings. This proved insufficient to support a fire suppression system, posing a critical safety concern. To mitigate the risk, we installed underground storage tanks for water, accompanied by a fire pump designed to transfer water from the storage tank to the fire suppression system.

Greenfield North was completed this August. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved together and are excited for the lasting impact Greenfield North will have on the Lancaster Community.
Tyler and Ty make it work! With so many moving parts, they excel at keeping everything organized. Coordinating across three different lots is no easy task, but Tyler and Ty have been instrumental in ensuring smooth operations.
