After 35 years with Kinsley Construction, Building vice president Rich Ness is retiring!
Rich’s path into the industry started long before he joined Kinsley Construction. While attending Delaware Valley University for business development, he spent his summers working alongside his uncles for a local contractor. From carpentry and concrete work to renovation projects, he gained hands-on experience doing whatever the job required. Looking for a change, Rich learned about Kinsley Construction through a connection already working for the company. What started as a new opportunity quickly became a place he could call home. “I wanted to help grow the company while also growing along with it,” Rich said.
Over the next three and a half decades, Rich did exactly that. He worked with nearly every department across the company, taking on roles in project management, estimating, contract preparation and countless other responsibilities. No matter the challenge, Rich was always willing to step in, lend a hand and help get the job done. Looking back, Rich is grateful for the many opportunities he was given and the relationships he built along the way. He credits the Kinsley family for creating a company culture that always treated employees like family and provided opportunities for growth. “They really took care of me. Kinsley Construction is a great company and while I’ll miss the work, I’ll miss the people the most.”
Rich takes pride in the projects, accomplishments and teams he’s worked alongside. He believes success comes from paying attention to detail, showing up every day ready to work and never being afraid to learn something new. For those just beginning their careers at Kinsley Construction, Rich offers simple but valuable advice: “There are going to be rough roads and change, but stick with it and you’ll see the benefits.”
As he begins retirement, Rich is looking forward to traveling with his wife and finally tackling a few items on his ever-growing honey-do list. Rich, congratulations on this special milestone. We wish you all the best in retirement!
