Opportunity for Growth
Bob Kinsley believed that if you’re not growing your business, you can’t grow the people working in it. We are the continuation of his legacy and vow to meet the standard he set. While our resources have grown to match those of a large corporation, we remain rooted in his values and vision for the family business. By expanding our self-perform capabilities, we become a better contractor – better for our people and better for our clients.
Better How?
Our Building Division is getting back to our roots. We aren’t just a management company and don’t want to hire someone else to perform tasks our people are capable of executing. By expanding the activities we self-perform, we better utilize our employees. Our tradespeople get to showcase their capabilities and our clients receive the highest level of quality available. We can also better control the project’s cost and schedule for our clients while offering more growth opportunities to our employees.
Our goal is to be more crew based, with specialized teams of tradespeople that travel from project to project, performing tasks at which they excel. In lieu of sending individual craftspeople to a project to be overseen by field superintendents, we are developing crews. Each crew will have their own leaders to oversee quality, ensure they have the manpower necessary to complete their scope in the timeframe allotted and provide mentorship and training to less experienced members of the team. By developing skilled teams, we are better able to forecast our workload, keep appropriate projects in the pipeline and improve our ability to keep employees busy year-round.
Concrete: Foundations, Flatwork and Panels
From foundations and slabs to tilt-up panels and stamped patios, we are expanding our concrete services. Our new concrete laser screed allows us to do larger pours with a flatter finish. Our new concrete pump wagon allows us to place concrete in tighter and elevated areas without using buggies. By self-performing tilt-up, we are also able to utilize our carpenters to build the panel forms. These investments mean expanded services for our clients and additional tools for our workers.
Carpentry: Rough to Finish
We’re expanding our carpentry services, covering everything from wood and metal stud framing to millwork and windows. The Barn Resort in Gettysburg, where we are converting the five-story former Boyds Bears retail/museum into a mixed-use resort, showcases the extent of our people’s skills. Our carpenters are bringing the owner’s unique vision of a modern facility with a rustic farmhouse look into reality. From a weathered wood plank wall with louvers to the art that hangs on the drywall, our people were provided the opportunity to showcase their skills. Our carpenters created windows, louvered barn doors, frames and casings for artwork, and custom cabinetry.

By expanding our self-perform capabilities, we grow our business while offering clients cost-effective and high-quality projects delivered on time. As the company grows, our employees grow. From advancement opportunities to ensuring employees work year round, we know our strength is our people. Doing construction right means doing right by our people and that leads to doing right by our clients.
